USES OF RESISTORS

Resistor is a two terminal passive electronic component that limits or regulates the flow of electric current in an electronic circuit.

Heading 2

What are Resistors?

Types of Resistors

Resistors are classified as:

1. Linear resistors
2. Non-linear resistors

LINEAR RESISTOR

A Linear resistor is one whose resistance doesn't vary with the flow of current through it.

NON-LINEAR RESISTOR

Resistors where the current flowing through it changes with the exchange in applied voltage or temperature & doesn't change according to Ohm's law.

USES OF RESISTORS

- Chargers
- Lamps
- Street lightning
- Fan speed control

- In-circuit function
- Voltage drop
- Heating applications
- For protection as fusible resistors
- In temperature sensors
